Thanks to a generous anonymous donor, all donations to Pasadena Humane up to $50,000 will be quadruple matched during its second annual Day of Giving on Tuesday, May 16, turning each dollar gifted to $4.

The community-supported animal resource center hopes to raise a total of $200,000 — including $150,000 matched by the donor — to continue providing shelter, medical care and lifesaving services for animals in need in the community.

“Your support will make a difference for animals in our community who deserve a second chance at a happy, healthy life,” said Dia DuVernet, President and CEO of Pasadena Humane. “Pasadena Humane is an independent, donor-supported animal welfare organization. Your donation will stay local and help save the lives of animals in the Greater Los Angeles Area.”

The poster dogs of this year’s Day of Giving are Pomeranians Enzo and Mochi.

They narrowly escaped tragedy after being abandoned in front of the shelter in a trash bag, double-bagged and tied shut. Pasadena Humane staff rushed them into the shelter where they were a little shaken up but relatively unharmed.

Now in their happy homes, Enzo and Mochi got their second chance thanks to the supporters of Pasadena Humane.

Funds raised will support sheltering, veterinary care, animal adoption, and owner assistance programs at Pasadena Humane, which helped nearly 40,000 animals in 2022.

The nonprofit organization offers lifesaving programs and services such as foster care for orphaned young kittens, an ICU for sick and injured animals, and pet owner assistance services such as a pet food pantry, free or low-cost spay/neuter and vaccines, veterinary vouchers, and emergency boarding.
